John has assisted hundreds of clients in family law and probate court matters and litigated numerous complex divorce and custody trials. He has been appointed guardian ad litem by Judges of Plymouth County in more than 40 cases – ranging from high-conflict divorce and custody issues to settlement of estates. As counsel for a court appointed conservator, John obtained a multimillion dollar settlement for an elderly widow based upon undue influence and wrongful conversion claims against family members who took financial advantage of her.
John has brought to trial numerous high-conflict divorce and child custody matters in the Bristol and Plymouth County courts. Because of his knowledge and experience, John served as a panelist and participant in the Probate & Family Court Department Substance Abuse Training Workshop held by the Plymouth County Probate Court, and is a frequent lecturer and co-chair at Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education seminars including “Trying the Child Custody Case”, “Cutting Edge Issues in Southeastern Massachusetts Family Law”, and “Alimony Double Dipping” in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
John has sought justice for hundreds of personal injury victims in jury trials and arbitrations. For example, through his diligence and dedication, John obtained a wrongful death verdict of $1.2 million and a three-panel arbitration award of $337,000 in a case involving a traumatic brain injury in a low impact vehicle crash. John has conducted jury trials concerning personal injury matters in Norfolk, Bristol and Plymouth Superior courts. John has successfully resolved over 600 personal injury matters in his career, resulting in millions of dollars in awards and settlements for his clients. John routinely uses expert witnesses to present the claims of those wrongfully injured through no fault of their own.
When representing an individual charged with a crime, John believes strongly in the trial by jury system. He holds the government to its burden of proof of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Because of his thorough preparation and aggressive determination, he achieves the best outcomes for defendants charged with crimes. John has conducted jury trials concerning criminal matters in Norfolk, Bristol, Barnstable and Plymouth counties.
